Schaffer Announces Release Of State Funding For Licking County
COLUMBUS—The State Ohio released over $3.63 million for projects in Licking County, according to State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) today.
Projects approved for funding today include:
• $2,298,117 in funding to The Ohio State University – Newark campus for renovations of Evans Hall.
• $1,000,000 in Roadwork Development Grant funding from the Ohio Department of Development to the City of Newark to support the Packaging Corporation of America project.
• $340,791.57 in funding to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to support additional trail paving projects improving accessibility at Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve.
“I am proud have voted for this key funding for my district and am happy to see these dollars going back into our community,” Schaffer said. “This funding will go a long way toward improving Licking County whether it is access to quality higher education classrooms at OSU Newark, improving roadways for our local businesses and workers and opening up accessible trails at Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve.”
Funds were secured through the state capital appropriations legislation, House Bill 2, which was signed into law in June of 2024 during the 135th General Assembly. More information can be found on the Controlling Board website here.
