COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) announced today the state's Controlling Board approval of $302,435 for the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) and the Fairfield County Commissioners to establish agricultural easements on farmland in Fairfield County. “Agriculture is one of Ohio leading industries and plays an important role in Ohio’s economy,” Schaffer said. “This is a major step in preserving Ohio’s farmland for agricultural use, creating jobs and protecting this critical industry." Agricultural easements are used by the State of Ohio through ODA to preserve and dedicate land strictly for agricultural use while retaining private ownership and management of the property.
