Schaffer Attends Officer M. Scott Moyer Memorial Highway Dedication Ceremony

COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) participated in the official dedication ceremony for the Officer M. Scott Moyer Memorial Highway today in downtown Lancaster. Senator Schaffer joined Lancaster Police Chief Adam Pillar, Officer Moyer’s wife Connie Moyer, and a host of other elected officials and guests for the ceremony. “Officer Moyer contributed a significant portion of his life to serving the people of Lancaster whether as a police officer or serving in the armed services during the Vietnam War,” Schaffer said. “We are grateful for his service and it is an honor to be a part immortalizing his legacy for generations to come.” “Even when we have the hope of glory, the emptiness that death brings is never filled," Connie Moyer said. "However, storms come and go. It’s how we live and what we do after the storm that truly matters.” During the ceremony, Chief Pillar said, “It’s an honor to be here with Connie to recognize the Officer M. Scott Moyer Memorial Highway. Senator Tim Shaffer sponsored the legislation and helped us to overcome barriers to be here today. I’d like to thank him for that help.” The designated roadway was included as an amendment from Senator Schaffer to House Bill 276, which was signed into law by Governor Mike DeWine back in March of 2020. Officer M. Scott Moyer Memorial Highway dedicates a section of U.S. Route 22 between State Route 188/Cherry Street and State Route 37 in memory of Officer Moyer. “This was the last step in a plan that has been in motion for many months,” Schaffer said. “It is truly a privilege to honor the life and service of Officer Moyer and I am thankful for the work that the City of Lancaster, Chief Pillar, Connie Moyer, and the Ohio Department of Transportation put into making this day possible.” Chief Pillar concluded, “I also want to thank everyone who came out to help honor Officer Scott Moyer’s faithful service. It takes a special kind of person to be a law enforcement officer and a special kind of family willing to share their loved ones with society to keep others safe. He deserves this honor and thank you Connie for sharing him with us.”
