COLUMBUS - State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) wants to remind everyone across the state, and families living in the 20th Senate District, to make the most of the upcoming back-to-school sales tax holiday, August 5-7.
“Over the years, the sales tax holiday has returned money to Ohio’s hardworking families,” said Schaffer. “This weekend, take advantage of this inflation-fighting measure as you prepare for your children and students to return to the classroom.”
In the 132nd General Assembly, Schaffer co-sponsored Senate Bill 226 and as chairman of the House Ways and Means committee, ensured this bill made it to the House floor. Senate Bill 226 created a permanent three-day sales tax "holiday" each August, during which sales of clothing and school supplies are exempt from sales and use tax. In 2014, Schaffer also chaired the Senate Ways and Means committee, which first introduced this concept in Ohio.
