Schaffer Holds Perfect Voting Attendance for 134th General Assembly
COLUMBUS - State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) held a perfect attendance record for the 134th General Assembly, not missing any votes, Senate sessions, committee hearings, or meetings throughout the year.
“Showing up for my district and the people who I represent is something I take very seriously and have pride in,” Schaffer said on his perfect attendance. “I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to represent them in the years to come.”
During the 134th General Assembly, Senator Schaffer chaired the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and co-chaired the Public Assistance Benefits Accountability Task Force.
Included among the many bills sponsored by Senator Schaffer in the 134th General Assembly was Senate Bill 16. This legislation enhanced protections for first responders and their families, codified Ohioans’ Second Amendment rights during a declared emergency, added mandatory sentencing for the crime of importuning a minor, expanded our statewide emergency alert system, and more. Senate Bill 16 was passed by both the House of Representatives and the Senate with strong bipartisan support and has been sent to Governor DeWine for signing.
Senator Schaffer also succeeded in obtaining numerous provisions for the 20th Senate District in the state budgets for the 134th General Assembly. The operating budget included several Schaffer-authored amendments, such as one creating an annual payment-in-lieu-of-taxes program to restore property tax losses to school districts and local governments in Morgan, Muskingum, and other counties. Schaffer additionally secured $5.1 million in Ohio’s capital budget for infrastructure and community projects across the district.
