COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) issued the following statement regarding Dolgencorp LLC’s (Dollar General) announcement of the 130,000 square foot expansion of its distribution center in Zanesville:
“I am excited to see Dollar General’s decision to expand its Zanesville distribution center. This is a major commitment to our local economy and will create 55 permanent jobs for our area.”
“By adding a cold storage facility to its Zanesville distribution center, this further shows that Muskingum County and Ohio are a great place for companies to do business. I am proud to see this kind of development in the 20th Senate District and I want to thank JobsOhio, OhioSE, and the Zanesville-Muskingum Port Authority for its commitment to expanding economic opportunity in Southeastern Ohio and Muskingum County.”
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.098 percent Job Creation Tax Credit for this project for a total of six years. With the addition of 55 new jobs through this expansion, Dollar General expects to generate $1.8 million in new annual payroll on top of its existing $29.5 million in payroll for its current workforce at the Zanesville facility.
