Schaffer Tours Buckeye Lake Flood Mitigation Project with County Engineer Jeremiah Upp, P.E., P.S.

COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer (R-Lancaster) toured the Buckeye Lake flood mitigation project in Millersport with Fairfield County Engineer Jeremiah Upp, P.E., P.S., on Tuesday.
“County Engineer Jeremiah Upp and his staff recognized a serious potential flooding problem after the Buckeye Lake dam reconstruction was completed, and they got creative,” Schaffer said. “I am very impressed with the solution they designed.”
The Buckeye Lake West Bank Drainage Project in Millersport was made possible through a budget amendment written by Schaffer in 2018.
Upp and his team installed storm water drain lines and pumps along the west bank of Buckeye Lake to drain excess water away to protect homes on the dam and Millersport residential neighborhoods. The project ultimately saved local residents from anticipated flooding and thousands of dollars in flood mitigation and repairs.
“It is amazing to see the work that Jeremiah and his team put into this project and ultimately saved Millersport residents thousands of dollars,” said Schaffer. “It makes my job easier knowing that we have great people like Jeremiah Upp and his team working to make Fairfield County a safer place to live.”
