COLUMBUS—State Senator Tim Schaffer today welcomed the 2022 Division I State Champion Pickerington Central Boys Basketball Team to be recognized during session at the Ohio Statehouse.
"This team battled through adversity all season including several injuries, but were able to work together and rely on each other to finish the season as champions," Schaffer said. "Coach Eric Krueger and his team are excellent role models not just for Pickerington Central but for the entire community."
The Tigers relied on OCC-Buckeye Division Player of the Year Devin Royal, who scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half, to pull off the upset of the defending champions and previously unbeaten Centerville 55-48. This is Central's second state title, ending a ten year drought for the Tigers, who finished the season with a 26-2 record.
