What do Republicans really want? Civility or Civil War?

My colleague, state Senator Terry Johnson, recently wrote an opinion column titled A Call for True Civility in which he blamed the attempted assassination of Donald Trump on the Democrats. He cited my reposted statement from the Biden-Harris campaign as an example of the “left” supposedly inciting violence. This is ridiculous and insulting. Johnson wrote, “The reckless comparison of Trump to Hitler became a leftist mantra far too easily.”

"Senate Republicans just don’t seem to get it.

After failing twice already this year to thwart the will of the people of Ohio through a series of tricks, Republicans in the Ohio Senate are trying a third time.

An amendment to gut Issue 2, which established and regulates the adult use of marijuana, was dropped Sunday afternoon.

The proposed amendment will decimate what 57% of Ohio voters approved under Issue 2."

This month, I spoke out against the selection of Elliot Gaiser to replace Ben Flowers for the position of Ohio solicitor general.

I find it completely reprehensible that the Attorney General has decided to place an election-denying enemy of democracy as Ohio’s representative in front of the Supreme Court, and so should many Ohioans. We need to condemn those responsible for one of the darkest moments of America’s democracy, not empower those responsible.
