Cutrona Announces Drought Help for Farmers in Eastern Ohio
COLUMBUS—State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announced farmers in Columbiana and Carroll counties may be eligible for emergency loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"Many of us have seen the effects of the current drought conditions throughout our neighborhoods, but our farmers here in Eastern Ohio are feeling them in countless ways," Cutrona said. "Our farmers are the heart of Ohio's economy and heritage. I hope these resources help them and their families recover and move forward as they begin a busy fall harvest."
The department has named 22 Ohio counties as natural disaster areas due to the ongoing drought. Farmers from these counties and 18 neighboring counties are able to apply for these loans, which can help meet recovery needs, such as replacing essential items. The deadline to apply is April 28, 2025.
