Cutrona Announces Funding for Community Development Projects
COLUMBUS—State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) announced over $1.1 million for local infrastructure and public service projects in Columbiana and Mahoning counties.
"This funding will benefit thousands of residents in the Valley," said Cutrona. "Improving our infrastructure is critical for residents to access school, work, healthcare, and much more. I look forward to seeing these projects completed."
Cities and townships receiving funding are:
- The city of Lisbon (Columbiana County) to conduct street resurfacing
- The city of Salem (Columbiana County) to make improvements to sidewalks and street resurfacing
- The village of Wellsville (Columbiana County) to conduct street resurfacing
- Austintown Township (Mahoning County) to conduct sidewalk improvements
- Beaver Township's Woodworth Neighboord (Mahoning County) to conduct street improvements
- Milton Township's Pickering Neighborhood (Mahoning County) to conduct street improvements
This funding comes from the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Allocation Program. Cities and counties considered U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development non-entitlement communities are eligible to apply for funds biannually. Ohio’s 101 eligible communities are divided between even and odd years of funding, with 49 communities receiving a total of $10,997,450 for 2024.
