State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) co-sponsored Senate Bill 100, which passed today in the Ohio Senate, to give Ohio Farm Bureau members currently without healthcare a more affordable healthcare coverage plan.

"Supporting our farmers allows our farmers to support us," said Senator Cutrona. "The Farm Bureau Health Plan provides another choice for farmers throughout the Valley and Eastern Ohio to receive the best health plan for themselves and their family."

SB 100 exempts nonprofit agricultural membership organizations, such as the Farm Bureau, that provide health care benefits to members from oversight by the Department of Insurance and state insurance regulations, making the plan not subject to Affordable Care Act (ACA) guidelines. Those enrolled in the Farm Bureau Health Plan maintain consumer protections and options to seek recourse if necessary.

The bill now heads to the Ohio House for further consideration.
