Cutrona Introduces Legislation Supporting Second Amendment
COLUMBUS—State Senator Al Cutrona (R-Canfield) introduced legislation to exempt guns and ammunition from Ohio sales and use tax and establish a tax credit for certain firearms and ammunition manufacturers that move to the Buckeye State or expand their facilities.
"The intent behind this bill is to protect our Second Amendment and remove the burdensome nature of taxes," said Cutrona. "Additionally, this is a jobs bill and will create more opportunities for Ohioians. Ohio is open for business and I look forward to the positive impact this legislation will have on our economy."
The tax exemption would cover any non-shotgun firearm .50 caliber or smaller and any shotgun that is .10 gauge or smaller, as well as any ammunition designed for these firearms.
Cutrona has sponsored similar pieces of legislation in previous general assemblies.
This legislation will next be referred to a Senate committee. You can follow this legislation here.
