This week, state Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D–Cincinnati) facilitated a community forum to help residents better understand long-term care resources and the rights of individuals living in long-term care facilities.

Navigating long-term care can be overwhelming, but families shouldn't have to figure it out alone, said Ingram. By bringing these advocates together, we hope attendees left with a clearer understanding of the resources available and where to turn for trusted information, advocacy, and support.

The event provided valuable information for those currently navigating long-term care, as well as individuals planning for their own future or the care of a loved one. Attendees heard from representatives of Pro Seniors, the Ohio Department of Health, the Office of the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman, and the Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program, who shared information on resident rights, Medicare counseling, advocacy services, and how to address concerns in long-term care settings.
