Ingram Provides Sponsor Testimony on Senate Bill 366
Today, state Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D-Cincinnati) provided sponsor testimony alongside Senator Louis W. Blessing, III (R-Colerain Twp) for Senate Bill 366, which continues efforts to improve accountability within Ohio’s property tax and property transfer systems by ensuring delinquent property taxes are addressed when ownership changes hands.
“Property taxes fund essential local services including schools, public safety, infrastructure, and local government operations,” said Ingram. “This legislation is a commonsense measure that strengthens tax accountability, supports local governments, and promotes fairness and transparency within Ohio’s property transfer system.”
The bill also includes reasonable exemptions for certain transactions, including probate-related transfers, governmental transfers, and deeds in lieu of foreclosure, while clarifying responsibilities for county auditors and recorders during the transfer process.
Senate Bill 366 awaits further hearings in the Senate Local Government Committee.
