Ingram Provides Testimony on S.B. 237

Today, state Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D-Cincinnati) provided sponsor testimony alongside state Senator Hearcel F. Craig (D-Columbus) for Senate Bill 237, which would restore local authority to regulate firearms and knives. 

“While communities across Ohio continue investing in public safety and violence prevention, they’ve been limited in their ability to adopt local firearm safety measures,” said Ingram. “Senate Bill 237 restores local control, giving communities the tools to address gun violence and improve public safety.”

Senate Bill 237 would repeal the current prohibition on local governments from enacting or enforcing firearm and knife regulations that reflect the needs and priorities of their residents. 

Senate Bill 237 awaits further hearings in the Senate Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
