Today, state Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D-Cincinnati) was sworn in as the Senate Assistant Minority Whip after state Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) recently stepped down from her caucus leadership position to run for the Lucas County Board of Commissioners.

“I am grateful to be elected as the Assistant Minority Whip by my colleagues,” said Ingram. “In my new leadership role, I look forward to the work our caucus will do this year.”

Ingram currently represents Ohio's 9th Senate District and serves as a Ranking Member on the Senate Primary and Secondary Education, Workforce and Higher Education, and Medicaid Committees. She previously served three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, as a member of the Cincinnati Board of Education, on numerous board committees, and in many leadership roles throughout her distinguished career.

Senate Democratic Leader Nickie J. Antonio (D-Lakewood) welcomed Assistant Minority Whip Ingram to the Senate Democratic leadership team.

“I am confident that Senator Ingram will be a valuable asset to the Ohio Senate Minority leadership team,” said Antonio. “During her time in the legislature, she has served as a strong advocate for her constituents in Senate District 9 and all Ohioans. I look forward to working with her in her new role.”
