Ingram Sworn Into 136th General Assembly

Today, state Senator Catherine D. Ingram (D-Cincinnati) took the oath of office to continue serving in the Ohio Senate during the 136th General Assembly.

“I am deeply grateful to the people of Senate District 9 for their continued support and trust in me to represent them at the Statehouse,” said Ingram. “I look forward to a productive 136th General Assembly and am eager to continue working toward a better Ohio.”

As a public servant, university instructor, realtor, neighborhood leader, mom, and grandmother, Senator Ingram knows how much the decisions made in Columbus personally impact all of us.

Prior to her time in the Senate, Ingram served three terms in the Ohio House representing the 32nd House District. Senator Ingram has been a member of the Cincinnati Board of Education for over 20 years, serving as president and vice president in the mid-90s. Senator Ingram has served on numerous board committees and, for many years, in a leadership role as Finance Committee chair in the Ohio House.

She earned her bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration from the University of Cincinnati. As an active member of her community, Ingram serves on boards of the United Way/Community Chest; Leadership Cincinnati; Great Rivers Girl Scout Council; Greater Cincinnati Black Achiever Award program; Mayerson Human Resource Academy; and Cincinnati Recreation Commission. Recognized as a leader in the community, Senator Ingram was honored with the Delta Sigma Theta Achieving Women Award and United Way/Community Chest Outstanding Service Award and recognized in the 2003-04 edition of Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati. 

In 2000, she earned the prestigious honor of being just one of five board members in the state to be named to OSBA’s All-Ohio School Board. At the state and national levels, she served on OSBA’s Board of Trustees and Executive Committee and the Federal Relations Network. In addition, Senator Ingram was previously an instructor at Northern Kentucky University and remains a practicing realtor with Comey & Shepherd.

Senator Ingram will represent the 9th Senate District, which encompasses Arlington Heights, Cincinnati, Columbia Township (part), Elmwood Place, Fairfax, Golf Manor, Mariemont, Norwood, Springfield Township (part), and St. Bernard.
