COLUMBUS - State Senator Jerry C. Cirino (R-Kirtland) today announced the release of state capital dollars for Kent State University to expand and improve its workforce training in the manufacturing and robotics fields.

Members of the Ohio Controlling Board approved the release of $93,198 to be used for the purchase of a Pepper Robot from Robot Lab Inc., and Universal Laser Equipment for Kent State University's College of Aeronautics and Engineering (CAE), in partnership with the Computer Science (CS) Department. This equipment will be used by students enrolled at Kent State, as well as individuals working towards workforce development certifications, both of which are critical for economic development in Northeast Ohio.

“I am pleased to see continued growth at Kent State,” said Cirino. “Kent State’s presence in Northeast Ohio is significant, and these strategic equipment investments ensure that the workforce is ready to take on careers in our region and state's most in-demand professions."
