Cirino Leads Passage of Bill Providing Budget Corrections
COLUMBUS—Senate Finance Chairman Jerry Cirino (R-Kirtland) is pleased to lead the passage of House Bill 434 through the Senate which was amended to include corrections to the state operating and transportation budgets.
"Keeping Ohio's budget up to date allows our state to continue functioning effectively for the betterment of all Ohioans," said Senator Cirino. "I'm pleased to see the Senate address the issues that came about following the passage of the operating budget. These changes guarantee that critical services are provided and state programs can operate properly."
Corrections to the state operating budget within the bill are aimed at ensuring state programs run as intended and funding is distributed while also fixing any unintended consequences from the enacted budget.
Among the actions taken in the bill is addressing the new federal cost sharing provisions for SNAP administration. The bill also appropriates $21 million to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services to update its Ohio Benefits System to lower the state's error rate below 6%.
