COLUMBUS—State Senators Jerry C. Cirino (R-Kirtland) and Michael Rulli (R-Salem) this week introduced Senate Bill 44, which repeals the nuclear subsidy included in House Bill 6. The bill removes the nuclear subsidy enacted in House Bill 6, lowering utility rates for Ohioans, while protecting the thousands of people employed by the zero emission energy nuclear facilities in Ohio. “Ohioans want to know their interests are being represented and their concerns are being addressed at the Statehouse.” said Cirino. “We have a responsibility to protect vital energy jobs that our neighbors and communities rely on. We also have a duty to ensure reliable, cost-effective energy options remain viable for all Ohioans while being good stewards of ratepayer dollars.” “The future of Ohio’s power generation capacity is critically important. It is time we provide solutions to the concerns that have been raised regarding House Bill 6,” said Rulli. “I believe Senate Bill 44 is that solution, protecting Ohio’s jobs, ratepayers and the environment.” "Senate Bill 44 is a win for Ohio clean energy, rate-payers, employees, and tax payers," added Cirino.
