Governor Signs Cirino Bill Honoring Vietnam Soldier
COLUMBUS - Governor Mike DeWine held a ceremonial bill signing for Senate Bill 148, sponsored by Senator Jerry C. Cirino (R-Kirtland), which names a portion of State Route 2 in Lake County the "Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers Memorial Highway." Among the family members of Specialist Sellers invited to the signing ceremony was his son, Denny, who worked with Senator Cirino to ensure proper recognition of his father.
"Honoring Specialist Sellers in this manner allows a family, community and country to always remember his sacrifice," said Senator Cirino. "His life and legacy is one of devotion and commitment to a grateful nation. I'm honored to see Governor DeWine sign this legislation and to be joined alongside the family of Specialist Sellers."
Specialist Lloyd Andrew Sellers was a native of Euclid, Ohio who enlisted into the Army at 21 years of age and began his tour on January 28th, 1967. He held the rank of Specialist Four and was attached to the 9th Infantry Division, 4th Battalion, 47th Infantry, and A Company. Specialist Sellers was killed during hostile action on June 19th, 1967 in South Vietnam and was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery.
The bill was formally signed into law on December 19, 2025 and goes into effect on March 20, 2026.
