COLUMBUS—Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina) this week announced the appointment of State Senator Matt Dolan (R-Chagrin Falls) to the Ohio Arts Council and Ohio Athletic Commission.

"Arts and athletics serve as an important part of our communities," said Dolan. "I look forward to serving on these boards to advance cultural and recreational opportunities for all Ohioans."

The Ohio Arts Council is a state agency that funds and supports quality arts experiences to strengthen Ohio communities culturally, educationally, and economically.

Responsible for overseeing participant safety, the Ohio Athletic Commission regulates boxing, mixed martial arts, wrestling, kick boxing, karate, tough person contests and athlete agents. The Commission is headquartered in Youngstown but meets monthly at the local BWC office in Garfield Heights on the second Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. Last month, President Obhof also appointed Dolan to serve on the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation (OLAF), a board which supports efforts to advance the civil legal aid that is offered to the people of Ohio, ensuring that all Ohioans have access to legal information, council and representation.
