COLUMBUS—State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) and State Representative Jon Cross (R-Kenton) this week welcomed the 2021 State Champion Liberty-Benton Volleyball team to be recognized during session at the Ohio Statehouse.
"This is a special team led by an incredible group of seniors that in three years were able to capture two state titles while only losing 8 games, culminating in this perfect championship season," said McColley.
This is the second state championship in three years for the Eagles, who finished the season with a dominating 30-0 record, only losing five sets all year. 2019 was Liberty-Benton's first state championship, with their 2020 title hopes being cut short with a loss in the district finals. "The Liberty-Benton Volleyball team showed extraordinary determination and hard work during their season which ultimately carried them through to their State Championship in 2021," Cross said. "We were happy to honor their accomplishments at the Statehouse."
