McColley Encourages Ohioans to Take Advantage of Sales Tax Holiday
COLUMBUS - State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) is reminding people in the 1st Senate District about the upcoming back-to-school sales tax holiday beginning at 12:00 a.m. this Friday, August 4, and running to Sunday, August 6, at 11:59 p.m.
"I know how inflation is making it difficult for parents to make ends meet, especially when it comes to getting fast-growing children the clothing and supplies they need for school," said McColley. "Ohio lawmakers made this tax holiday specifically to help them, and I strongly urge parents to take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity."
During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:
- An item of clothing priced at $75 or less
- An item of school supplies priced at $20 or less
- An item of school instructional material priced at $20 or less.
There is no limit on the amount of the total purchase that can be tax-exempt.
