McColley Honors State Champion Wrestlers
COLUMBUS - State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) honored three 2023 Division lll State Wrestling Champions today by presenting resolutions recognizing their accomplishments. Liberty Center High School junior Xander Myers won in the 175-pound class; Archbold High School junior Brodie Dominique took the 144-pound title; and Delta High School sophomore Adam Mattin garnered the 106-pound trophy.
"These three young men are a great testament to their schools, their families and their own perseverance," said McColley. "It was my honor to recognize them for their accomplishments today."
Brodie said he learned from last year's loss in the finals that the key to success was turning his nervousness to excitement right before the match. Xander had to overcome a bloody nose that stopped the match three times for treatment before he prevailed. It was a family affair for Adam. His three brothers and their father have all won state wrestling championships. "Now I know what they were feeling," he said, "pure joy."
