McColley Receives Small Business Advocate of the Year Award

COLUMBUS— The Greater Cleveland Partnership (GCP) and its small business division the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) today named State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) the "2018 Small Business Advocate of the Year." Senator McColley was chosen for his work on two pieces of legislation, signed into law during the 132nd General Assembly, Senate Bill 255, which requires the legislature to review occupational licensing boards and House Bill 271, which responds to the issue of individuals filing predatory claims against businesses for technical violations. Additionally, Senator McColley has introduced Senate Bill 1 in a continued effort to cut government red tape and reduce overly burdensome or unnecessary regulations on Ohio's small businesses. "I am honored to receive this COSE award. Nearly half of all Ohioans are employed by small businesses which are the backbone of our growing economy," said McColley. "It is our goal in the Ohio Senate to create an environment in this state which small businesses can thrive." The award was presented today in Columbus during COSE Day at the Capitol, an annual event that connects the Northeast Ohio small business community with state policymakers.
