COLUMBUS—State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) yesterday received the 2019 Taxpayers' Torch Award from Americans for Prosperity Ohio (AFP Ohio) at their third annual awards ceremony.
"It was an honor to be presented this award and a pleasure to spend the evening with a room full of friends who are principled and passionate about limiting the role government plays in our lives," said Senator McColley. "I look forward to standing beside AFP Ohio to continue cutting burdensome regulations and make Ohio as free as possible to grow our businesses and take care of our families."
Since McColley joined the legislature, he has been a strong conservative presence and worked diligently on occupational licensing reform and other areas where government has demonstrated over-regulation or involvement.
"I was proud to be the first AFP Ohio torchbearer back in 2017, and I am honored to “pass the torch” to Senator McColley," said Lt. Governor John Husted. "We have a responsibility to guard the public’s tax dollars, and I am glad to have Senator McColley as a partner in finding ways to use technology to provide better services to Ohioans."
Recently, McColley and Husted announced a new initiative to eliminate regulations that prevent Ohioans from fostering stronger innovation and development in prosthetics.
"Ohioans deserve champions who are innovative, bold, and willing to take on issues that challenge entrenched interests," said AFP Ohio Director, Micah Derry. "Senator McColley has been doing just that his entire legislative career and I couldn’t be more proud to present him the 2019 AFP Ohio Taxpayers’ Torch Award."
