Robert McColley Sworn In as State Senator

COLUMBUS—State Senator Robert McColley (R-Napoleon) today was sworn in as a member of the Ohio Senate after the Senate Republicans unanimously voted to approve the screening committee recommendation to fill the vacancy in Ohio's 1st Senate District.
"I am honored by the confidence the Senate has placed in me, and I look forward to continuing to serve the people of northwest Ohio in this new capacity," said McColley. "I will continue to focus on issues that protect individual liberties, promote economic growth and that reflect the conservative values of the 1st Senate District."
Senator Rob McColley served two terms in the Ohio House, representing the 81st District in the House, which includes Putnam, Henry and Williams counties, as well as part of Fulton County. He also served as the Assistant Majority Whip during the current 132nd General Assembly.
Ohio's 1st Senate District encompasses Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Williams counties as well as portions of Auglaize, Fulton and Logan counties.
“We believe Rob has the character and experience needed to represent the people of northwestern Ohio,” said Senate President Larry Obhof (R-Medina). “Rob is a committed and energetic leader on issues important to his constituents, and we look forward to working with him as he helps move Ohio forward.”
In addition to his responsibilities to Ohio's 1st Senate District, President Obhof today appointed Senator McColley to serve on the Senate Standing Committees on Agriculture, Education, Transportation, Commerce & Workforce and Public Utilities. McColley graduated from Napoleon High School in 2003 and then went on to attend The Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Finance. He then attended the University of Toledo College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate in 2010. Prior to being elected to the House, he served in the Community Improvement Corporation of Henry County, where he oversaw economic development efforts for the county and worked to improve local workforce development efforts between manufacturers and schools in Henry and Williams counties. In addition, he is a former trustee of the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial in Sunbury, Ohio, which honors Ohio’s men and women who have died in the war on terror. Other examples of his community involvement include being a trustee of the Henry County Community Foundation, board member for the Henry County Board of Developmental Disabilities, a member of the OSU Alumni Club of Northwest Ohio, and a board member of the Center for Child and Family Advocacy. Senator McColley lives in Napoleon with his wife, Denise, and their three children.
