COLUMBUS—State Senator Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) today welcomed the Napoleon Lady Cats basketball team to be recognized by the Ohio Senate for winning the 2021 Division II State Championship.
“It was great to provide some long overdue recognition to the Napoleon Lady Cats Basketball Team," McColley said. "I also found it very fitting that these girls who had their shot at a state title ripped away from them last year were the first state championship team that we recognized in the Senate since the start of the pandemic. Recognizing this team was extra special as an alumnus of Napoleon High School and a resident of that community.”
This was the Lady Wildcat's first state basketball title, finishing 26-1 after having their previous season's championship run cut short in the state final four due to COVID-19. Head Coach Corey Kreinbrink was also named Division II Coach of the Year and senior Taylor Strock was named Division II Player of the Year.
