COLUMBUS—State Senators Andrew Brenner (R-Delaware) and Jay Hottinger (R-Newark) today introduced Senate Concurrent Resolution 17, urging Congress to allocate funding to the CHIPS Act. The bill was passed by Congress in 2021 but has not had funds apportioned to it yet.
Funding for the CHIPS Act will impact the rate of manufacturing expansion in the United States, including Intel’s expansion into Licking County.
"This funding is critical for the national security and the economy of the United States and for the future of Ohio," said Brenner. "We have a serious shortage of computer chips needed to make everything from consumer goods to military equipment. Intel is poised to make Ohio a world-class chip manufacturing center, but we need Congress to fund the CHIPS Act in order to make this critical next step in our nation's economic future."
Funds for semiconductor companies are critical to the industry and for Intel’s plans to build two facilities in Ohio. CHIPS Act funding will provide a major boost to the national economy and position Ohio to become a world leader in this vital industry.
