COLUMBUS—This week, State Senator Andrew Brenner (R-Delaware) praised the announcement today by Governor Mike DeWine that 825 blighted and vacant structures in 30 counties will be demolished to clear the way for new economic development.

The announcement included $500,000 for the demolition and revitalization of 5 projects in Delaware County.

"Giving businesses and residential areas that have been abandoned and run down a second shot is a real boon to our communities," Brenner said. "This is a fantastic opportunity to attract investments across the state."

Funds are part of the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program, created to help local communities tear down dilapidated commercial and residential buildings and revitalize surrounding properties to attract investments, businesses, and jobs. In total, the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program will award approximately $150 million in grants for demolition and revitalization projects across the state. The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program is administered by the Ohio Department of Development and was created with the support of the Ohio General Assembly. The grants are funded as part of the 2021 state biennium budget bill, House Bill 110.
